Fan Expo-losion: Day 2- DAVID CRONENBERG PANEL (Aug 28)

On Saturday, I made a point of attending the David Cronenberg panel moderated by Rue Morgue editor-in-chief Dave Alexander. And I'm glad I did as it ended with a surprise appearance by another acclaimed horror director: Ken Russell

King of Venereal Horror: David Cronenberg (with Dave Alexander)
Cronenberg's panel was fairly low key but interesting. He spoke about his upcoming film A Dangerous Method - about the relationship between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud that gives birth to psychoanalysis - , he talked about his past as a young comic book collector, and he made it clear that he has not ruled out coming back to horror in the future. The full recording of the panel will be available on an upcoming episode of my podcast: SCREAWAVE.

During the panel, Cronenberg mentioned he liked coming to Fan Expo and the Festival of Fear to meet with some of the actors and directors that they admired, such as director Ken Russell  (Gothic, Lair of the White Worm, and Altered States). As a surprise end to the panel, Dave Alexander welcomed Ken Russell down to the stage to present David Cronengberg with a lifetime achievement award. It was a meeting of two greats, and the whole audience was thrilled. The people rushing up for a photo op were ecstatic.
