Zombie Delight by Buck 65 (Music Video)

Despite being Canadian and a zombie lover, I had no idea that Canadian musical artist Buck 65 released a music video for his song "Zombie Delight" earlier this year. How did I miss this zombie-filled music video from my home and native land? In case you've never seen it either, here's "Zombie Delight" in all its bloody gory.

Coincidently, Buck 65 is performing in concert tonight with other artists at the Phoenix Concert Theatre  in Toronto (410 Sherbourne Street M4X 1K2).

The Dead Mile: Create a Trailer Contest

Want to try your hand at creating a trailer for an exciting new zombie film?

The filmmakers behind The Dead Mile, a Canadian zombie movie set in Calgary, Alberta, want to give you the chance with their Dead Mile Trailer Contest!

For your chance to win, cut and assemble the provided B-roll footage into a creative and exciting trailer that goes right for the jugular. Here's some inspiration

For more information about the film, which is currently in pre-production, visit TheDeadMile.com and follow the project on Facebook and Tumblr. Movie synopsis follows:
Zombie walks occur in most urban centres globally during October.  A Zombie Walk is an organized gathering of zombie fanatics who design elaborate zombie costumes and make-up, meet up to set out on a predetermined route, and act as both the infected …pre-zombie, and the reanimated … full on/nervous system shot/quest for living or freshly killed flesh/grunting/groaning/ lurching zombies. The Dead Mile unfolds at the annual zombie walk in Calgary.

Our hero Tyler is a nerdy zombie enthusiast. Tyler is “that guy” — fully prepared for the zombie apocalypse, should it occur.  Getting his ‘kit’ together for the Walk is the perfect way to play it cool though while getting closer to the lovely Krystle. Who doesn’t want to get dressed up, infected, and shamble around for an afternoon together? Tyler’s set to win Krystle’s heart while running interference with his fairly obnoxious best friend Johnny Boy and Tyler’s boss Kevin, who is a zombie purist and a douche to boot!

What Tyler doesn’t realize is that something has been incubating on Johnny Boy’s family farm.  On the way to the Walk, Johnny Boy bumps into a clever little pathogen and his friendship becomes more than infectious by the time he hits the streets.  What the crowds, 1000s deep — don’t realize is that this isn’t just the “best zombie walk ever” but that they are doomed by this vicious viral strain, it’s carriers, the infected, and the reanimated. Can Tyler navigate through the flesh-eating living dead, face Johnny Boy, keep Krystle close, and escape the Dead Mile?

The Art of Zombie Warfare (Review)

REVIEW

The Art of Zombie Warfare:
How to Kick Ass Like
the Walking Dead

By Scott Kenemore

Skyhorse Publishing: 2010

RATING:

4.5 / 5 zedheads

In William Shakespeare's Richard III, King Richard finds himself at the losing end of a severe military ass kicking. "A horse!" he famously exclaims as he searches desperately for an exit strategy."A horse! My kingdom for a horse!" Perhaps, if Richard had taken the time to read Scott Kenemore's The Art of Zombie Warfare he could have enacted a swift and merciless victory by having the foresight to shout, "A zombie! A zombie! My kingdom for a zombie!"

In The Art of Zombie Warfare, Kenemore (writing in the persona of a hawkish jarhead) sets forth a sure-fire strategy for military victory: fight like a zombie. Whether you're commanding your own horde of zombie soldiers or responsible for issuing marching orders to mortal men, Kenemore argues that victory is as close as the nearest mouthful of brains..... if you train your soldiers to fight exactly as zombies fight.

In Kenemore's guide, rules of engagement, human rights, complex wartime strategies, and POW protocols are all obstacles to success. Instead, he advocates that military leaders teach their soldiers to fight the zombie way: always just walk straight ahead and kill everybody. Everybody. Well, the philosophy is a bit more complex than that, but essentially the book advocates (with tongue firmly in cheek) that if you can't have genuine zombies on your side then you need the next best thing: merciless, thoughtless soldiers with no regard for human life and no interest in glory -- only total decimation of the enemy by any means necessary followed by a nice hot steaming bowl of brains for their troubles.

Kenemore's previous zombie-themed guide to business, Z.E.O, tended to get a bit dry. Thankfully, The Art of Zombie Warfare is written in a much more concise and punchier style. The chapters are short and sweet, making Zombie Warfare a brisk read. It's thoroughly entertaining and gleefully sociopathic in its military philosophy.

Each chapter features illustrations by Adam Wallenta that are far more polished than the art in Kenemore's previous guides, yet Wallenta's zombies look more like a cross between Dracula and Frankenstein's monster than typical flesh-hungry undead.

If you find yourself shipping out to fight in a foreign war, joining a band of guerrilla fighters, or considering the necessity of launching a full scale attack on your neighbors, put aside those moldy copies of Sun Tzu's Art of War and those dogeared issues of Terrorism Weekly you get in the mail. The only things you need to ensure success is a copy of Zombie Warfare and a steady supply of cannibalistic corpses or, at the very least, a platoon of living soldiers willing to sacrifice their humanity and fight like the living dead.

Judge Dredd vs. Zombies

Judge. Jury. Zombie Executioner?

Okay, the zombie mash-up craze has gone too far now that Judge Dredd is set to prosecute "zombie crime" in the new mobile phone game Judge Dredd vs. Zombies.

Available in the iTunes App Store for $0.99, you can now play as Judge Dredd in this top-down, multi-directional shooter nonsense that pits Judge Dredd against zombies for no clear reason that I can discern.

Seems pretty ridiculous to me.

Hammer Tackles Zombies in BONESHAKER Adaptation

The newly resurrected Hammer Films (Let Me In, The Woman in Black) has announced that it has obtained the rights to adapt the steampunk zombie novel Boneshaker into a feature film.

In Cherie Priest's Boneshaker, a mining experiment gone wrong in the early days of the Civil War unleashes a gas that turns all those who breathe it into a form of the living dead. These undead creatures are walled up in a devastated toxic city, but a teenager named Ezekiel and his mother Briar embark on a crusade that takes them to the undead city and into conflict with air pirates and the criminal underworld.

Sounds intriguing to say the least!
